Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

We've lost so much talent

We've lost too many capable and experienced people to layoffs and I can't figure out why the leadership would think that's a good idea. We already feel their absence and it's only going to get worse in the future. Layoffs are supposed to rid the company of low performers, not some of its best. Only at US Bank can something like this happen.

No. Not only at US Bank. RIFs are to save money. The best employees are sometimes the most expensive. Everywhere! The people that cost the most are let go. It's easier for the company to fire people that are overpaid and bad at their jobs, but they also fire people that are the best in their peer group if the others around them are barely capable and cost less. That's corporate life. Loyalty is expensive, so it doesn't exist anymore. If you want job security, work for yourself and no one else.

We are losing a really valuable mid-level manager that has so much system and processing knowledge. I really don’t look forward to when she is gone.

And the other capable people are leaving before they get laid off…
