Quitting as a rotator

I'm currently on a rotational assignment and I've accepted another job. If I turn in my two weeks notice when I have two weeks left on my hitch, will I still receive a payout for my earned days off? I want to give my team as much notice as possible but I also don't want to miss out on being paid for my earned days off.

As much notice as possible? As soon as your boss finds out they'll all turn on you like rabid dogs. Do whatever is best for you and your actual family.

Mulling over a offer now for 30,000 more salary, similar 401k matching, full medical but no pension. Less administrative headaches.

This will become more and more common as rig count rises. Especially after all the rotator specific benefit cuts and hostile policy changes in 2017/2018. Nice slug of processes safety minded employee rotators making a change to greener pastures are about to be replaced by double the cost consultants who haven't been on a steady rig since the beginning of the downturn.

So polish off those B&C and WWC contracts, and get those capping stack lifting slings inspected and certified because HR is clueless and has made zero risk management actions to counter the impending storm.

Shareholders, take note.

Rotator here. From what I've seen in the past with others, company will make your last day of employment your last used up CTO day so you don't screwed and you end up even.

Now if it were me, to try protect myself, I would give notice ~3-5 days before I was due back on hitch. Notice period being 1 month for a 2x2w rotator or 2 months for a 4x4w rotator. If they fire you right away so be it. If they let you do a last hitch I'd immediately secure an answer on CTO payout (or last day on payroll) from supervisor/HR before I would agree to go for that last hitch.

The CTO days I referred to in my initial post are the paid days off I earn for every day working on rotation. Example is the 14 paid days off I get after working 14 days on rotation.

No. You get paid prorated for any day on the payroll. The real question is what happens to any CTO days? I guess you lose them if you don't use them or wait until end of year to get paid. Not many CTO days allowed these days so maybe not a big deal
