Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Does our "supply chain management" group know anything?

What is the deal with our supply chain group? Are there actually any managers who know how to run the group? Is this an Arizona State Cabal? Why is diversity of thought now encouraged but diversity of appearance is almost an essential new managers? Can you head up capital project procurement if you have never worked on a capital project? Can you be a category manager for a service or product of which you have minimal knowledge? Do you feel remotely supported by people who just want to go home by 5pm or 3pm in Houston? How many visas are they sponsoring keeping qualified locals from certain jobs?

These 1diots know nothing about chains. I saw one the other day trying to push one. 🤣

Most of the SCM people I've worked with in GOM have been very good. The SCM people in most other BU's I've worked, not so much.

SCM, HR, IT, HSE, all millstones around Chevron's collective neck. Their only role is to slow down processes and serve as Chevron's lead D&I operations.

It’s amazing that functions like SCM and HR have such huge PSGs - 29 and 30. They manage nothing, just serve.

Meaning of the word “Diverse” = Non White straight male. Remember that word so you know what they mean when you hear or read it.

It is bizarre how SCM turned into a thing, like IT or HES. Minimal qualifications required and no particular education or training. They just chat with vendors, send out bids, etc. Anyone could do it.

SCM was the D&I “function of the year.” They bragged about how 9 of the 10 intern offers were to “diverse” candidates. I know we don’t work in a true meritocracy, but SCM is taking this too far. Forget achievements, skills, and experience. It’s all about how your rolled in the genetic lottery.
