Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Leaving Automotive - The only choice

It just doesn't matter anymore guys. You have to see the bigger picture here.

Do you really want to be in survival mode for the rest of your work life?

Pretending if you work harder then it won't happen anytime later?

And if you do believe into a bigger picture for Ford, then why would they now torture you with mass layoffs stretching endlessly across months?

You can't switch from software to data to battery to motors and back in an attempt to remain qualified in their eyes.

Next to that, age, gender and cultural background matter more than anything these days. How do you remain qualified in those areas?

The government allows outsourcing. Doesn't matter what happens at home. And the endless greed of stock traded companies.

I remember when Ford asked during the interview where I would see myself in 5 years and in 10. In this country you used to be able to build something bigger than yourself that would outlast you. So that you are not just working for a salary.

It is expected nowadays you remain silent over the companies desire for maximum greed. You shall not express criticism. After all, you have been paid and took the money haven't you?

Next opportunity, I am going to ask, "Where do you see your employees in 5 years, and in 10?"

Ford hates the fact that people like me exist, over 50, white male engineer. After over 25 years of putting up with training my new DEI managers, surviving 6+ restructuring, I asked my current manager to put me on the list to be terminated. The vacant clueless stare she gave me was priceless. She said she would need to ask her director what I was talking about. I pray they pick me so this pain can end on Friday.

“Next to that, age, gender and cultural background matter more than anything…”

True. Companies are aligning to ESG.
