Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Injustice hurts the most

I do not think that I am the best and most productive employee, but I know at least 10 who are really lazy and do nothing, and yet they are not PIPed. Not only is it demoralizing, but it's also humiliating. I don't want to sound envious, but how is it possible that the biggest slackers are spared from being PIPed, and those of us who invested a lot of effort are now PIPed?

OP, the biggest slackers are not only soared from the NSI but also promoted, because they are sponsored.

Correct, I exercise my option to do next to nothing and milk my flat, no payrise salary for as long as I can. 😁#winning

The ranking system is corrupt. If it was actually fair, they would publish the results. I was un-justly NI'd last year myself. Could not tell me why. People barely putting in 30 hours/week around me getting VGs for no good reason. I worked my a-s to the bone this past year, moved up one notch to good and they act like I should be grateful for that. Again, no feedback on why I was ranked good, other than "it was a tough assessment cycle." Could not tell me what others in our group, who got Excellent, did to deserve it over my G.

One must realize the system is corrupt, once your eyes are open to that, you can either accept it or exercise your options (i.e., find other employment).

I won't be giving any notice.

The chosen/sponsored people who are wrongfully ranked very high just do not complain.

Duh

Play it again Sam. Every post on this site is someone complaining that they are better than the people who ranked well and shouldn’t have been ranked low.

Yes this is true. I love the supervisors kissing these slackers as--s. My supervisor made sure to say goodbye to their favorites and invite them to keep in touch. This supervisor avoided all the hard workers when they transfered. It is just sickening and that is why people leave or retire first chance they get.

Slackers always win. They know how to game the system. They usually go to the daily stand up meetings with a big list of items that makes them sound busy. They are laughing all the way to the bank.

I have seen top experts PIP’d and id--ts promoted. Too much politics in EM ranking system.

Typically ExxonMobil audits procedures to ensure compliance and consequences to anyone found not following the procedures correctly.

The EM leadership all prospered under the ranking system and use the ranking system to advance their favorite id--ts.

The audits performed on the ranking system are not to ensure full compliance to the procedures. The only audits performed on the ranking results are to test if EM could be sued for not enough minorities in the top quintiles.

Politics, favoritism, racism, nepotism, intimidation, plagiarism, and revenge all allowed in ranking, yet forbidden in all other aspects of EM.

The injustice is to see scammers who should be PIPed but continue to thrive. These include those that make a career of creating problems when there are none to give themselves something to do. As well as those that jump on visible projects but do no work but to get in the way.

Not a judgement on you, just politics.

Announcing the % of employees needing significant improvement prior to any assessments is just setting a layoff target.

DW calls it a “PIP” because he does not have the baIIs to own up to systematically laying off employees.

Just doing your job doesn't mean you are safe from PIP, because you are expected to do "more". However not doing your job but your "extra curricular activities" have visibility, you are safe from PIP :)
Welcome to ExxonMobil :)

The slackers are not a danger to their bosses.

OP it's very simple, the Company has decided you svck and it hates you. Just like in HS when you tried to get in to a clique, but, got rejected and had to move to a different group. Same thing
