Wow! Great summary of exactly how Xom works
Company will throw a lot money at you and make promises in the beginning about career, development, and grand purpose. For the first few years, it will be an exciting place. Then comes the bait and switch. No training, no clear career path, no empowerment, and the pressure to deliver more and more. The higher you go, you start to see the cracks… the politics and the lack of integrity. You will burn out, play the games, or check out. Are you strong enough to walk away from the money, the titles, and the prestige of working for what used to be a premier company in hopes that it will get better? Look at the “leaders” or senior people at this company. Are they the people you look up to or aspire to be? Is this a place where you would want your kids to work? Do you think the company is really putting their money where their mouth is and pursuing the purpose/ vision that make you proud? If the answer is no, then why are you here? So to continue collecting pay checks until the day you become one of the bitter souls who rail at the injustice of being NSI? Sure, if you are not in a position to leave, then do your job to the best of your ability and help those who need help. But do not waste a moment more. Develop the skills you need so you can thrive and soar irrespective of this company. Your identity is not tied to a job or a company
