They already knew how bad big reds numbers were by the end of May. It's a complete farce and what we've done is put lipstick on the pig with the new KPIs. Frankly, it's going to become increasingly hard to stay with big red as it begins slowly begin losing federal and state contracts to AT&T and T-Mobile. 5g's use case is years out and that's the truth no one wants to hear. There aren't chips to put in driverless trucks, or cars, or even cars you can drive. FWA does not have better latency than fiber, and AT&T heavily investing in its fiber network will pay off.

The problem isn't Hans specific the problem is they hired the wrong consultants. Rather than argue big red isn't a distribution company they should have started watching the downstream implications of diverging interests in the global south.

It's a cluster. The truth is there is a talent vacuum. Everyone is worried about cross channel, sales, or some other rogue component, but not new blood. Verizon for years has absolutely failed to move employees up, or out.

Someone needs to hit reset hard because if this goes much further it'll reshuffle the telecom deck.

Boston consulting is in bed with our leadership. Shubho Ghosh, vz of business transformation, came from BC. Val Elbert left vz years ago and went to BC and runs their telecom practice in the NE.
Did vz put all their investment dollars into 5g and reduced their investment in the fiber build out?

I'm referencing the store reps, customer service agents, assistant managers whom have been with the company for 12 years or more, and the store managers who've been in their position for seven years or more. There is a real problem when it takes a company has employees staying in these lower positions with little incentive to move up in the company. I'm not referencing the specialized positions, because there are far fewer of them.

The first mistake is believing the stores matter. From a business perspective, it's cheaper to just make them all indirect. The primary issue is quality of service, investments, employee mobility, lack of real pay caps, and lack of smart RIF's as a function of maintaining a quality workforce. Too much blame on unions too little introspection. Verizon real estate honestly is too costly. Should have been using the past year to input quality controls on indirect stores and handed the reigns over. Verizons bread-and-butter should be in FIOS controlling market share in the NE and further investments in fiber. Now it would be too costly to even attempt to catch up with AT&T while big red argues about which 5G bands they bought.

Verizon thought they could get rid of most corporate stores and outsource tech, customer service etc...and still be the best.

You can't maintain a Ferrari by using cheap parts and cheap labor. It just doesn't work.
