Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Wireline and Wireless should breakup/split

Wireless can take Hans, VZ India, Inf0$h!, GTS/IT, Shanks, Sampath, etc and try to be the Global “big tech” company that they are not. Good luck!

Wireline will go back to being a successful, American, telecommunications company.

Funny - wireline "backbone" is only in the 13 colonies - but wireless network is nationwide. Get your facts straight.

Wireline owns the backbone and wireless owns the product sold on that backbone. They aren't seperable now. Old payphone, cable tv, and landline deadwood needs to get a grip. It's been 3+ years since "wireline" has been a seperate thing.

FYI Wireline owns the backbone that wireless needs to operate. So be very careful what you are asking. Wireless margins live on the backs of the wireline network.

If it’s not a burden, why is VZ paying millions in fines in New York City and Boston every year for not expanding it? And since they merged it under VCG, it’s tanking wireless numbers, I guarantee “wireline” was the main reason why there was only 12k net new subscribers.

So funny, only the Federal channel was making money in wireline. Now they are struggling due to leadership without networking experience.

Well if Wireline is such a “burden” or “deadwood “ then Verizon “Wireless” should have no problem spinning it off or letting Wireline go.

So, back in March 2020 when covid hit and everyone was working remotely, they did so via wireless?

When businesses/companies had to expand their remote access, they did this via wireless?

How about emergency services, fbi, cia, etc? They prefer wireless?

When someone in NJ uses their cell phone to call someone in California, the call is 100% wireless point to point?

Comcast is doing well. They were strictly “wireline “. They offer cell service now by reselling VZ Wireless service.

So spin off Wireline. If Wireline eventually decides to expand back into wireless, they can resell T-Mobile or some other wireless carrier.

I agree. Cut Union bloat dinosaur wireline free so it can sink into the abyss. Wireless was great until it merged with boat anchor wireline under Blowell. Good riddens.

What used to be wireline loses money on its own. That's why it's not a thing anymore.

Wireline is a burden on the company and other than 2 quarters in 2020, has not been profitable since 2016. Not sure why this is being ignored in those earning calls. Year after year of mediocre results and undeserved union contract extensions.
