Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Don't trust them!

I am referring to the thread in which someone asked if it makes sense to ask the manager how safe our position is. My opinion is - don't do that!
I speak from experience, I know a person who once went through agony because the manager assured her that she was safe. This was followed by a cold-blooded layoff.
It's nice to have trust in your manager, but my advice is don't trust them when it comes to layoffs.

The problem is not even your manager knows what is really going to happen. LL5/LL6 are in the dark too. Some LL6s found out about the layoffs in their teams only a couple of days before it happened.

Now, all of them know something is brewing. I asked mine what were his thoughts, and he told me he doesn't have any details yet, but all the clues (JF saying we have too many people, massive hiring in Brazil and Mexico, cutting 3 billions from ICE) point to a nasty situation.

Good luck to you all!

I suggest asking your manager and let him/her/they/it squirm. You don't have to trust what they tell you but, the body language and non-verbal cues can be priceless. Just don't give them the impression you are okay with being severed or that is what will happen.

Who actually trusts management at Ford? If you do, you’re drinking the Kool-aid a little too hard and need to reassess your goals.
