Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Two faces

Will all this “you must be in the office BS, , doesn’t the piece below shot that down?

“While face-to-face communication is important for collaboration and building relationships, we learned during the pandemic that we can be just as effective at working together, solving problems, and innovating virtually. Please utilize our host of meeting and collaboration tools such as Teams and Zoom to meet with your colleagues and business partners around the world.”

Few are willing to endure the horrific commutes and expense of big city real estate just for the privilege of rotting in a cube, when the work can be done from anywhere.

Aero is having such a hard time hiring US engineers that the are posting the jobs as fulltime remote. The existing employees still need to follow the hybrid plan. So much for trying to keep the existing engineers.

Honeywell loves work from home. Anyone who can work from home is doing a job that can done cheaper by a more educated slave in china or india.

They want you back in the office because there is a legion of middle managers who collect a paycheck to look over your shoulder at the office. These people can't stay employed if you don't come back.

They want RTO because the commercial real-estate market will collapse without it. Won't anyone think of the fat cats?

On a broader scale not returning to office means you will be spending way less money and the fat cats hate that. No RTO means your vehicle related spending goes way down: car payments, car insurance, fuel, and maintenance. No spending for your kids at daycare. No spending on those lunches you never seem to have time to make at home. No spending on the office/work clothes you need to buy. The list goes on and on. Ultimately the money you are saving now is money they are not getting. And now they want it back...

This company is run by very incompetent people. They want you to come into the office but most of the people you work with are either based in India or Mexico and have almost none of your coworkers that work in the same office as you. Even when you are all in the office they still do meetings on calls even if the person is right next to you.

Such ridiculous policies. I had to drive 30 miles at zero-dark-thirty to be able to get a hot desk to have Teams meetings with my colleagues, ALL of whom were on other continents. WFH was a blessing, because I worked the exact same way, but was spared the 60-mile round trip and sat in a comfortable chair on clean carpet, next to a clean bathroom and potable water. Never again will I work in a h3!! ho-e like the HW "office".
