This nets out the current picture pretty nicely. By buying Redhat, IBM bought their way into a new business model that feeds the machine. (1 dollar of platform spend translates to 3-5 dollars of SW spend and 6-8 of consulting/services) There are a couple of unanswered questions
- Why did IBM hold onto Kyndryl for so long It’s past performance and it’s current performance show it’s a terrible business model as it currently sits and IBM wasted billions on its continued investment.
- What do you do with the remaining legacy businesses?
- Can IBM execute this plan quickly enough given the competition
