Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Anyone heard from our CDIO?

I suspect he is job hunting.

The sunrise was a bit brighter this morning, the air fresher, the sound of songbirds more beautiful...

That may be true. Perhaps RL was just hired to be a hatchet man, cut costs, and offshore everything on behalf of JD and the BoD. However, I find this concept of cost cutting in IT to be bizarre because in my opinion, Nike Tech is chronically underfunded and is always doing extra work for free on the backs of their often overworked and understaffed development teams. The real waste and cost cutting should come from consolidating and divesting of underutilized, outdated, and redundant systems (and perhaps the teams that manage them). Replacing onshore talent with offshore teams in a timezone 12 hours apart from HQ has been an experiment that has failed countless times for thousands of different companies in the past 2 decades. It won't work here either. And when RL is gone, it's going to take years to repair the damage.

On the note of waste, it's always weird watching groups in Tech get detrimentally squeezed to save a million or two, then to turn around and see Nike blow a couple million frivolously on some stupid event with a celebrity DJ.

Is it hard to believe though? RL may be a joke and the total fu-k job reorganization may have set the company back years but this is what he was hired to do. He was brought in to reduce costs and his distributed workforce outsourcing plan is doing that. Leadership doesn’t give a sh-t about your happiness, morale, or productivity…just cost reduction.

Has anyone seen anything that RL has done at Nike that made you say wow, this guy is really great?

Is there anything that he's done that has gone right at all?

It's hard to imagine a less inspiring or more incompetent leader. Morale in Tech is at an all-time low and talent is leaving in droves. It's hard to believe Nike keeps this fraud in place.

I’m hoping he gets his walking papers soon. It would be a glorious day if RL and JD got their pink slips the same day! Hoooorayyyy for Nike!!!

@9saq As is ALWAYS the case with DEI hires. It’s 2022; “DEI” is just an excuse to employ racist HR practices.

I have personally interacted with some of the new leaders he has brought in from the outside and they seem like fake it until you make it, self assured posers. I’m talking vps here and those within his innner circle.

@6kvi I look forward to the day where no confidence in leadership actually means something when it shows up in the engagement survey

Board meeting coming up, hopefully they come to their senses and get rid of that clown. Engagement survey showed that their is 0 confidence in his ability to lead.
