Cisco Live Is Here

Will Cisco have anything big to announce this year that customers actually want? Or will it be more marketing vaporware?

OMG the private chat with Oprah was simply cringe worthy. Whats worse than that are BU leaders giving presentation on platforms like ND and they clearly have to read from a script as they have no real idea how the product actually works.

On the bright side we did launch some cloud stuff for both catalyst and good old nexus. So we have the buzzwords in our portfolio

The unfortunate reality for Cisco is that customers are no longer willing to spend lots of time and money on the network infrastructure for their businesses. It's been 25 years, and customers still can't easily manage an all Cisco infrastructure so they're voting with their wallets - they don't want gold plated switches with lots of features they don't need and which require CCIEs to manage.

Anyone that spent time at Cisco or that deployed Cisco technology knew this day was coming. Despite all of the feedback from customers, Cisco simply didn't have the will to address this problem. It was just easier for the Engineering leadership to keep building more and more boxes without any acknowledgement of the difficulty they were creating for Cisco customers. Sales leadership loved having more hardware in their sales bag - software sales is just so messy.

Not true? You may want to look into adoption metrics. Or more accurately the lack of.
AS/CX can't even get it to work. Meraki will be the go forward solution regardless if it fits for the customer or not.

Not true. They are too far along with DNAC, and Meraki is not a sound replacement for CLI customers. Customers are still using 10+ year old Prime because DNAC still doesn't do some table stakes things like config backup. So you will have to live with cr---y DNAC for a while now.

DNA Center is a failed product. It's replacement is being announced at Live. DNA will be ki---d shortly after.

Perhaps the big news is that we will actually ship out stuff we sold 1 year ago to customers ? I know it is asking a lot but miracles do seem to happen at times (or so I have been told)

Nothing that matters or customers care about will be announced at this cisco live. There is zero travel budget for Cisco staff to attend to speak or host customers. Only budget for the corrupt inept ELT to have private chats with oprah.
