Thread regarding Ford layoffs

June 16th Layoffs

I'm hearing June 16th will be the next "surprise" round of cuts. It will happen just like it did the last time with Industrial Platform, but hit other areas this time.

Just have to wait until tomorrow to find out if the 6/16 layoff rumor is true or not. I appreciate folks lettings others know what they have heard. Though I hope there won't be any layoffs anytime soon since attrition is already high & it's terrible to see people lose their jobs.

Thoughts of impending layoffs are really bad for morale, so I hope the 'leadership team' will either put the rumor to sleep or be a bit more transparent on cost reduction plans.

@2ple+1hdVqY7m Because leadership doesn’t know what resources are actually valuable. They keep changing parameters for cuts all are unrelated to actual contributions. Instead they are based on models from a consulting company that show in theory how to save human costs.
Make more money than peer group- cut them; Have a pension-cut them; Expensive health costs-cut them; Older than 45-cut them; Have lower cost country option-cut them;

Prior to each cut middle management shuffles all the friends and family contingent around to protect them from cuts; they invariably cut the most productive people; then promote friends and family contingent; then go on a hiring spree because work isn’t getting done.

The waste is sickening. The right size for our group is 90-100 people all actually working.
Here is the group size fluctuation with layoffs.

  • Group size 2000 - 200;
  • Group size 2008 post reductions and retirements 120;
  • Group size 2009 - 220;
  • Group size 2018 - 260 (60% non-workers).
  • Group size 2019 post SRD - 240.
  • Group size 2022 - 280 (66% non-workers)

Next action is purchased Service contracts. They run out at the end of June and almost none will be renewed.

@2ple+1hdVqY7m All I can figure is they're hoping people leave on their own to reduce the number of packages they give out.

Why doesn't ford just do a one and done. I mean who wants this hanging over their shoulder.

Only speculating, but if the separations are going to follow the new quarterly review process and the last separations were in mid-April, it seems like mid-July would be the next round?

Both could be right. If they contact you at home on Wed, June 15th cob to say you are let go, but then tell all the people left on thurs, June 16th. Then its spanning the June 15th and 16th, so they could both be right. We will find out tomorrow.

I hope this is not the case for active folks. I withered under the threat of layoffs from 2018-2020 at the "new Ford". Its not a healthy environment.

Yeah, I'm skeptical when I hear exact dates. This reminds me of the local forecasts for snowstorms, they will predict a massive snow storm, bitter cold temperatures, and then there are few rain showers.

No layoffs. Ford blue meeting just ended and nobody from leadership mentioned anything about layoffs.

False alarm. We are safe.

Layoff one week before townhall. Pretty common practice!

I got a clue when last Thursday management TLS, com, etc had 2 hour dept meeting, oddly 2 TLs that we’re off on vacation supposedly until Monday today but showed back up Friday in which that morning another hour long management meeting was held. It is extremely quiet between management and the regular employees. They have also been carelessly playing musical chairs with the employees on who will do which jobs??????

Three different postings. Not necessarily three different sources. I have no doubt there will be cuts. The exact date June 16th... maybe not. A lot of positions will be sent to the suppliers. Depending on the commodity suppliers are being upgraded to "full-service" suppliers. However, the suppliers agreed to pay for the warranty costs that are billed to their products. This will be a bad decision, since Ford could not control the warranty costs, there is no way supplier will be able to control the costs.

I agree. Once 3 separate sources give the same info, it is likely true.
