Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Is ATT planning to Lay off -June 2022?

HR team sent an email with "Resources for Employees Leaving AT&T (and)
Employee Exit Process "..... never seen this kind of information. Sound concerning. Wondering if there is a round of layoff /recession preparation going on? How to read this? WHy would HR send these to all staff? These links are always available in the site, but making them explicit ....concerning.

Force reductions have been announced. Notification you will be impacted around mid-January, last day on payroll, Feb. 1st.

Age, tenure, location, RO75 do not factor into the decision.

Att is so slow in doing anything. Thier management has No Idea how the company should be run. Multiple mistakes by upper management and they are in charge. Employees over 20 years work about a half a day. First line management work from. Upper management has not been seen by workers I. Years. Covid excuse to work from home and do nothing.

Dude, did you even graduate from high school? The least you could do is to use spell check! You're the epitome of an AT&T employee...LMAO! Absolutely pathetic!

Too many jerk managers in AT&T payroll could pushed the company toward a bankruptcy.

In my org there's barely enough work for the personnel we have and yet there's a job req posted for a new hire. Just when you think it's obvious that T will be laying off, they go ahead and do just the opposite. No wonder why this company is so screwed up! Hire when there's no work and layoff when people are needed while putting a strain on the existing personnel to do more work with less...great business model!

I see many people at att that have no work. Att should make an offer to reduce the work force.

In 2014 the company offered a big buyout based on years of service. I had 35 at the time and decided I'd jump at it. It was pushed out and pushed out and at the end of the year I cut and ran. Sure I missed out on a pocket full of cash but goodbye and good riddance was well worth it. Good Luck . . .

Att will always lay-off it is their management tool. I find it interesting that the previous post said only pension people got it that would seem troublesome legally but Att is above the law.

In my office (management) only the people with pensions received it.

@fcf+1hfEVZ6f ... are ya new here to AT&T?

What's with all the layoff talk? T has plenty of cash, no need for layoffs, T is a cash cow. T is in better shape to handle any recession than any other company. If Stankey lays anyone off it will be because of greed and greed only.

Personally I'm ready now and I've not been ready in any of the endless mass layoffs before. I'd welcome a voluntary offer. I don't expect one though. Under Randall it was sometimes carrot sometimes stick. Under Stankey it's all stick. As to the PR aspects, don't fool yourself. Now matter how many they whack and how they choose (remember the collaboration zone purge?) they have PR folks to spin to the media. If it's going to happen the AVP's will know first. Then the Directors. They or 2nd lines will provide a list of names unless there's a list from above (see collaboration zone purge). Once they do it's set. All the rest is window dressing. They'll pretend they don't know who's going to be whacked but it's not true. They have to include a few safe folks in the affected work group call but the list of people to be cut is set. If you know to volunteer at the right point they might be able to trade you, but everything else is a sham.

T doesn't care what their employees, customers, media think.
To think otherwise is folly.
They'll keep buying JD Power awards and win diversity accolades.
You believers are naïve.

“ T will not layoff employees. It generates way too much negative publicity for the company.”
Unless you have 8%+ inflation and a looming recession to blame it on…let’s not forget about 2 Covid years that leadership executives get to use for an excuse for g-d only knows how long!?!?! Another “crises” the good ole working class gets to pay for while taking it in the shorts!

When inflation is at
8+% it is more economical to cut jobs than increase payrolls. It’s about to happen biggly!

If this company is to be operated as a profit making operation (which all companies should be) instead of a multi billion dollar debt machine then personnel cuts are inevitable. When there is very little work and too many employees then cuts need to happen. Get ready. As Stankey said years ago “No job is safe”

Hard to trust ATT, not sure what is in the pipeline. Do they even filter by age and send these emails based by age?
