Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Gut Feeling

5k blue, 8k red to be announced end of fiscal year.
Blue badge 9 10 & 11 employees at top of range in their grade most vulnerable.
Red badges assigned to project work most vulnerable.
Expect broad de-funding
This affects all emploees and all projects.

I am a 'glass is half empty' kind of a guy. Always been...

Please let me enjoy posts on TheLayoff without insulting me. If you prefer cheerful news, go watch Entertainment Tonight or a talent show. Maybe FB or Insta, check out that photo of your friend's cat and dinner plat...

For the rest of us that enjoy horrors and thrillers, please let us be and enjoy this fine site.

Lol this post is being downvoted because it’s just trolling. Of course people want to know info about layoffs but this is baseless fear mongering.

"... You wouldn’t be worried about layoffs if you were providing value to your company instead of spending your day trolling on a message board..."

Oh, but when you post and update the thread; you get an exception?

When I grow up, I want to be just like you.

I am important.

The previous reply is curious. It scolds people from visiting a message board called "The Layoff" to learn about layoffs. This post seems to be attracting HR drones. Guess that confirms it's accurate.

Some of you are actually delusional. Seek help. You wouldn’t be worried about layoffs if you were providing value to your company instead of spending your day trolling on a message board.

Woke up guys !
Interview skill is your best friend. Stop paying too much attention for the over assignment from your selfish leader. And ignore your peers who play the hunger game on the small pool.
Key is you can get a job after cisco. LR will become a big bonus when you look back.

These numbers are as ignorant as I've seen in years. They are not whacking 13k people. Do your jobs and quit worrying about it. Nothing has come down but I think the company would be better off to shut down bangalore permanently and scale back mexico city. We could farm out the software to kindergartners and it would no doubt be better. mexico city cxc is absolutely terrible, but not bangalore garbage. If you are on a plan or have had IPFs of 1-1.1 the last couple of years you need to be worried though. You are without a doubt on the radar.

I am not getting any more projects and all the work I am currently doing is set to end by the end of July.
Something does come our way. As far as I am concerned if they pay me the severance package I am good to go, I can't take it anymore.
What is striking is that the managers can tell you with a straight face that we will get you work.
I have seen the scenario repeated with a couple of other colleagues so I am just wondering if they truly believe anybody else believes them.

Forced PTOs in July. Been at Cisco for 8 years. Yes I know I could do better but kinda settled here. July is when we go mad for the last push to get our numbers in. July is traditionally when we stop sleeping and just work to close the books and push for last minute deals. And this is when the management comes with forced PTOs. The only reason, besides saving on OPEX, is they do not wish to pay out accrued vacation time once they start LRs. The estimated number of people lined up for layoffs must be substantially large for them to overlook sales numbers in Q4 and push for PTOs in July - it’s gonna be a slam dunk folks. Get ready for landing !

What do you guys gain from fear mongering here? Go to therapy instead of spreading your anxiety around here. Bottom line is we don’t know what’s going to happen. Keep your head down, work hard, and make sure you have marketable skills.

@jhs+1hgAtpb2 Ohhhhh no a year!! Big deal, this happens all the time. The Dow has gone up tremendously since April 2020 up until now, still up 40% in 5 years. Stock market doesn’t always dictate layoffs. We’ve seen layoffs when stock prices are sky high too.

@jhs+1hgAtpb2

13k people though? Cisco probably has that many leave in the last month itself voluntarily

"Dow sinks 700 points, dropping back below 30,000 to the lowest level in more than a year... "

Sure, everything is just fine, no chance of any recession or layoffs; ever again.

13% cut across the board. this number seems to be a magic number as several other tech and fintech have announced they will be chopping by that %.

Nice job copying and pasting a comment from another thread. Anyway, we’ve had too much natural attrition to lay off that many.

Are they going to ask for volunteers?

A team meeting was sparsely attended today, esp at the manager level. They were all "traveling" or in an unscheduled "manager meeting". And they are always in attendance. And no, they were not at Cisco Live.
