Live from Hans Country Bunker: 5G Good Old Broadband 4G LTE Internet Band

What do you think of Verizon's new marketing plan? It sounds like the 5G promise falls short of expectations.

Verizon unifying its three forms of home internet service—Fios wired fiber, 5G wireless, and 4G wireless—as one product, Verizon Home Internet. The three modes all have different coverage and performance, but they're being combined from a marketing perspective.

The goal is to offer a single entry point where Verizon will tell you the fastest form of internet you qualify for, rather than the company's currently divided Fios and 5G Home services.

"Our ambition is to become a national broadband provider, and if you add up our fixed access footprint and our Fios footprint, we are already covering 47 million households in the US," says Verizon Chief Revenue Officer Frank Boulben.

They have 5g poles all over near me and it is spotty enough I have turned it off on my brand new 5G phone. Running 4G LTE I get consistent service indtead of fast/slow/dialup speeds.

I have the 4g service, and while it works, it has a few issues. If they upgrade to 5g I’ll probably keep it, but the Cable it replaced was the same price, and faster. I’m going to give it 6 months to make up my mind. They should really adjust the pricing to reflect the level of service. Fios, 5G, 4G lte.

Well, I dunno.

I have Fios and have rejected Verzon's attempts to lure me back to their WAY overpriced mobile phone service.

Once I went to Ting Mobile, I never looked back.

I don't miss Verizon with their long, confusing, and expensive bills.

Fios (internet only) I like. The price is a little high, but close to reasonable.

It makes sense from a marketing perspective. It all depends on if the wireless home can deliver.
