If your job can be done from home, it can be off-shored.

Big changes are coming to all of us.

If you are a US employee, working outside the US and are not doing so based up a specific business need, you are violating corporate policy. You will get caught and you will get fired.

Taking a work laptop out of the country is prohibited without certain approvals.

You don't get fired right away either. They track you and build a case against you. Not even your direct manager knows while this is going on.

Capitalism will always go where costs are cheapest.

OP seems to want to stir up some anti-offshore people anger, when they should be asking if unregulated, or more accurately in the USA, poorly regulated, capitalism is good for families and the country.

Or just blame brown folks for takin' yer jab.

Maybe for some jobs, but the quality coming out of the offshore is horrendous!

@yuy you have to prove that's why they are off-shoring. A group tried to organize at a Walmart several years ago and Walmart shut down the store. There's nothing the NLRB could do about it. They cannot make them keep their business in the US.

We were told that WFH means "Working from an approved location only, for example an office located at your address of record". They said that it does not mean you can "work from anywhere".

WFH means you can work from any location you desire. Even from another country. some of us are working offshore.

@hmp and then the NLRB would destroy the company for union busting when they tried. WF execs are d-mb, but not that d-mb.

@fvp+1hgq7lin

Avoiding union entanglements is a prime reason for offshoring soooo...

Offshoring everything after a huge diversity push would be rather oxymoronic.

It's 2022. 85% of jobs can be done from home.

But yes, our jobs will continue to be offshores because US employees are too cowardly to unionize to save our workforce.

The more US companies offshore US jobs the less taxes & SSI these former employees pay into the US system. Our Government needs to wake up. Time to start taxing these companies for every job moved off shore. You want Tax breaks only get them for jobs created in the USA.

If you offshore too much, you won’t have any customers.

70/30 US to offshore is the goal ratio.

EGS has attrition in the 40% range right now, although they are moving entire Agile product teams to India and beyond.

I would expect very little domestic tech a couple of years from now from cloud and off-shoring. Agile will be the accelerant to this fire. Hope it would for our customers when they learn off-shore folks have access to their accounts.

If you're on an "Agile" team, chances are you've already got an extra layer of "dotted line" management that's in the Philippines.

We been known that! Many jobs performed by former Office of the President team members are now in The Philippines and India. They need to send customer service there too since our customers are getting so nasty
