Latest Innovation BS at Wells Fargo

"The best “sparks” are generated through organic cross-functional networks with continuous feedback, along with the added benefit of being able to tinker with our “own” algorithms and designs using real world data at scale. Hackathons, Ideathons, Human-Centered Design sessions, Bug Bashing, and Build Your Own Ideas are a mainstay for us to keep things fresh and keep the innovation momentum. We believe that giving our talented employees an opportunity to stretch and ideate is the ultimate retention mechanism."

Those things mentioned are basically mental masterbation. They're mostly meant as a BS way to act like there's innovation. There really isn't. God help you if you actually want to do something innovative b/c you'll get nowhere. Fiefdoms, silos, tribal BS, dysfunctional orgs.

A new leader once asked to the staff - Why is there not more innovation? The common rely was time and budget. Of course the new leader knew this and was just being an id-ot.

More like innovating more DEI BS.

If WF cared about DEI, they would have done it years ago. Now, it's just forced as part of the ESG nonsense.

Our leaders are so out of touch regarding how to retain employees. They are clueless when it comes to true understanding, Just toxicity and 0 ethics or humanity.

"We believe that giving our talented employees an opportunity to stretch and ideate is the ultimate retention mechanism"

Ultimate retention mechanism is giving a comparable market wage and not gaslighting your employees. Clearly, your version of retention isn't working because all your people are leaving for Amazon etc. And why should it, when you make the online banking guy from Chase the "head of advanced tech", what do you expect ?
