Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

What’s your current CL and Potential?

Your boss can see your CL and potential so just ask. They’re not supposed to tell but May out of kindness or just ignorance to the guidelines. Also who knows the review level needed to get to 38 potential ?

I have seen a Supervisor’s career destroyed because he told the truth about a high potential labeled young lady that was useless.

I would not recommend telling the truth about a sponsored person/id--t in a ranking meeting, with sponsor in attendance.

@lee+1hncr66g Lies. I had a HiPo on my team that was not a HiPo in my opinion. I ranked him same as everyone else with no special treatment and dropped their ultimate potential to match my view. Zero pushback. Do your job.

So what is considering “hi po”? 34, 36, or 38?

Here you go..

Multiple levels to a potential, 25,27,29. Technical execs 31, technical chiefs 33

Management execs 34, senior execs 36, president potential 38

Your supervisor CAN tell you. They may not due to risk aversion or misunderstanding of guidelines. I just asked mine and she/he just told me outright. No pause about it.

I have had to fill out career maps for high potential employees that worked for me. One was an absolute id--t, arrogant, a--hat, that should be fired, but Senior Management liked him.

Also I had to talk that id--t up in the ranking meetings because if I did not keep him at top then I would drop in ranking.

They are supposed to be able to tell you the type of role you are expected to reach by the end of your career. It is them up to you to figure out what CL that position is.

Everyone knows this company is all about control. They don't disclose potential because potential is for management to control everyone's career, not for you to develop your career. The question is: whether you want to be controlled?
