Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Indifferent to the departure of key talents

Despite the fact that many are underpaid and everything else that's going on, there are still many good and talented employees here.
It is impossible for me to imagine what TR will look like after the those remaining employees leave? What kind of company will it be?
After the departure of some colleagues, I already feel like this is not the same company at all.

Threats of unionizing are the reason why T R is outsourcing and automating speedily.

There is more interest in unionizing than in the past. The Reuters side of the business is already unionized and younger workers in other segments want the same pay transparency, raise guarantees and defined roles. Many have had management responsibilities shifted to them with no recognition in pay or title. Younger workers are eager to have their rights protected and are not afraid to organize.

@2dum+1hodph8V exactly. At the risk of being labelled a red, that's why it's important to join a union (strength of numbers and legal support). Also, something has to be done to reduce the ever growing gap of inequality between the haves and the have nots.

I joined the departure. Remember, it's always the capitalists against the workers.

You all deserve better. The job posts I'm seeing are over half if not more of what I was being paid at TR. I knew this then but it took a layoff to make better things happen.

@ 1yzl+1hodph8V having you fill out a survey is just bs. It just goes to show how a clueless management has lost the plot. There’s no hope!

My last day was yesterday. Had to fill out what felt like a 100-question survey all about my reasons for leaving, where I was going, what my pay was at my new company, etc etc. It probably took 20 minutes. I'm a boomerang and the last time I left (around 7 years ago) I'm pretty sure this survey did not exist because I would have remembered how absurd it was. So yes, I guess I can verify that leadership seems to be concerned with the fleeing employee phenomenon. Whether the survey responses will change anything is another matter. And yes, I'm going to another company where my pay will be almost double what it was at TR.

Why would anyone want to make a career at TR? It’s an underpaid shitshow with frequent layoffs. I tell anyone that asks me to stay away.

They are not winning on culture nor are they on the Pay for sales representatives.

Senior top talent is leaving in abundance.
Many CPA firms no longer consider TR the gold standard in the industry .

I can assure you that “talent flight” is a risk that is being discussed. My biggest concern is that our young talent sees no pathway here and is cutting off the chance of a TR career. Some leaders are hoping that they can get some TR boomerangs when the economy goes down but we shall see.
