Thread regarding Ford layoffs

People are quoting a target cut rate of both 10% and 17%. Which is it?

What difference does it make what percent is cut? You don’t know what number they are starting from whether it is North America, global, or which departments in North America. Excuse me, the Americas. You also don’t know if the percent is from today or a year ago or three years ago when it started getting diced. What does matter is a lot of people with Ford in their blood, will find out the marriage is over.

I really feel for those left working. I got out last year too. That writing on the wall was loud and clear. I still care about the company but the caring isn't returned. They need someone like AM but it may just be too late. Good luck.

That development center in India is supposed to house 12 to 14,000 employees and China is about to get a system transfer of work from U.S. offices.

10 + 17 = 27; 27 / 2 = 13.5% :)

Many salaried people at an engine plant in Canada retired in the last 6 months. They are not being replaced. HR said there is a hiring freeze.

The others are expected to work harder and longer hours to make up for the lost manpower. If it was me I would say no. A lack of planning on the companies part does not make an emergency on mine!

In the fall of 2018, we had a VP (Jim Holland) during our town hall with the HR lady sitting right next to him came right out and said Ford PD has to reduce their HC by 25% worldwide. That was before all the announcements about going to EVs. So that number will grow.
Another thing to keep an eye on is work going below the border. Odd both Mexico and Brazil are not even major car markets, but we built a brand-new Design Center in Mexico.
The traditional areas of PD the responsibility is going south of the border. Body / EESE / PT / PTI just look who is doing the OPD work? Even after P release Mexico takes over the purchasing portion. So, the writing is on the wall.

It's highly unlikely anyone posting on this board has actual knowledge of when and how many will be cut, voluntarily or otherwise. That's not to mean that cuts aren't coming as JF, DF and co. have already indicated.

The theoretical planned number is actually (PI^2) = 9.86, which rounds to 10.

Boy has this company gone to h3ll in last 20 years. Glad I got out of that snake pit when I did with a nice lump sum.

Save as much as you can. Stop keep up with the Jones' and you - may be fine.

People don't want the discussion to die down lol. Heck, it could even be 10% voluntary, 17% involuntary. Who knows anymore?
