Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Criteria for layoffs

It is not at all surprising that there are more and more pretenders here, and fewer and fewer employees who perform their best. If performance will not be the main criterion, then what exactly will be the criterion for layoffs, rumors of which are already circulating?

As a management (L2) employee I am not family with the individual bonus model mentioned below. I will have to look into that.

OP, what are the layoff rumours circulating that you mentioned?

As others stated layoffs, likely less this year, plenty of boomers retired during pandemic years 20/21 that opened up enough openings for folks to move up.. Lots of the old guard management is also retiring with their fat pensions..

However if the economy goes into the sh----r later in the year (which is 50/50 at this point) , expect the hatchet to come out swinging... AS others have said, being a great performer means nothing if your project or department is slated to be outsourced of offshored. So don't ki-l yourself thinking you'll be noticed, you won't

Not in my generation where we all got trophies just for participating. Its not fair to target me for being on the wrong project. Its not like i had a choice in projects!

Management layoffs have forever been based on what project you are on. Just as outsourcing has been.

You can be the smartest most dedicated person on the wrong project, you will be a target. And that goes for the new individual bonus model as well. If you aren't on a visible project, you will get nothing no matter how good you are.

it's better to fix a problem than not create one in the first place.
