Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Underpaid or well paid

I'm curious, how many of you believe you are being underpaid and how many think you are properly compensated? I always thought my pay was below industry standards, but I've started applying lately and the offers I've been getting are in the same or lower range. Is this a fluke or was I under a mistaken impression that WFC tends to underpay us?

WF pays more than my last company (that even admitted to paying less). However, I think I’m being underpaid compared to my co-workers. I don’t know that for a fact, but likely.

I'm well paid, but that's because I left WF after spending a decade there vastly underpaid. Promised promotions at almost every review after year 2, only finally received one (15% increase) at year 7 that basically aligned me to the job description I'd been doing all along. Promised then further promotion was coming. I stopped believing that Lucy would actually let me kick that football about 2 years later and found a great opportunity outside WF making 20% more. Received my first raise (4%) and bonus (16%) after my first year at my new employer as I hear my former colleagues were either 1) getting laid off, 2) receiving 1-2% raises if they were lucky, and 3) getting bonuses well below target.

Sometimes the grass IS actually greener because it is better taken care of...

Pay is, but medical/deductible costs are slowly eroding it away.

401k is OK, but should be an 8% match

Came in underpaid, but after a few years, negotiated a large increase. Now one of the highest paid in my role and I feel it's fair as a top performer. Just worried if I reach the salary cap if I would be stuck forever and have to move.

I feel like I'm paid well for my age and years at the bank. I'm comfortable with my salary and bonuses.

You are not well paid if you can't afford your annual HSA deductible...just sayin' as the kids say....

I used to be well compensated compared to what other companies paid. But, over the years, with annual 1% increases, I am now underpaid. Though, the benefits -- like PTO and WFH -- have made it worthwhile.

I’ve had highly increased responsibilities over the last few months. As such, at this moment i would say underpaid, but we’ll see what happens during review period and if the additional responsibilities are noticed/rewarded. Previous to these additional duties. I would say i was accurately compensated.

UNDERPAID AF
Business Rule Consultant - 102,000.00 and the bonus was hijacked by inept YES man manager who said to me was forced to give me a poor rating which cut my bonus to one third of standard. They always were like - we can only pay you this much, but hey, you get a big bonus every year... isn't that great? Then they were like...nah, we don't want to give you a bonus so we'll just make some s#!t up and take most of it away. F you!

F them.

Overpaid for the first 5 years. Fairly paid for the next 5. Underpaid for the five after that.

Now, Wells is "significantly below expectations".

By definition 'underpaid' means other employers pay more for what you do.

Those of you that say you're underpaid, it's weird that you stick around. If you're really underpaid, you should be able to find replacement employment with a higher salary with little-to-moderate effort, no?

I was underpaid for a long time, but I’ve had a couple of decent increases in recent years due to HR restructuring. I think I am fairly compensated now.

First 5 years underpaid. Next 10 fair for what I was doing. TBH. the last 4 over paid. Last three promotions I took were me seeing less competent people applying and getting higher level roles (the old 3,4,&5 ops risk/compliance roles) The last few years I spent more time looking busy than doing actual work. Lately though, not being paid enough for the cr-p show going on.

For my role, I think I'm well paid. Would I like to make more? Yeah, but I earn a pretty darn good living TBH. In the past few years I have tested the waters in other companies to see if it was worth doing something different. But in a couple of cases it was something they had to make sure was doable from a salary standpoint. One position actually changed the title to a higher level to meet my salary requirements (I didn't end up getting it).

bottom line -- wells very pays well for certain roles. Particularly those in demand.

I can share that my colleagues have left and all are earning more. Those hired to replace them have come in at a higher level, justifying the higher salary needed to get them.

Most people would consider me fairly well paid, but I'm actually underpaid for my position.

WF pays better than other places, but you find yourself making sacrifices in other ways. It’s a sneaky trap you can fall into.

Well paid. Don't really care what anyone else is making, peers or people at other companies. If some are making more, good for them.

Well paid based on conversations I’ve had with many recruiters at other companies, financial and non financial alike. Only the major tech companies seem to pay significantly more with their equity programs.

Most banks do not pay what WF does, very few do. I turned down several offers when I worked there bc they were less. Bonuses too. You get paid more because of the work conditions and environment sucks so there is a pay premium.

It depends on what area of the bank you work at. The pay is competitive or bwtter for areas in short supply of qualified workers.
