Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T agrees to raise wages, give parental leave, and restrict call center cameras

If you are one of the 13,000 AT&T employees covered by the wage increase agreement with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) union, you are in luck as the carrier has agreed to raise your paycheck by at least 15%.

It could be that they're willing to throw the union workers a bone because they're going to more than make up for it in cuts to the management workforce. Remember when the Covid lockdowns happened a lot of (most?) blue collar types across the economy still had to go to work because they were "essential," whereas your typical white collar keyboard clickers, conference call yakkers and associated corporate stooges got to do their thing from home because they were obviously something a little less than "essential," shall we say. Perhaps the Stank-man and his lackeys made note of this distinction and have decided the company can work just as well with a greatly diminished supply of PowerPoint decks and Excel workbooks filling up the e-mail servers. Carrying a lot of debt with interest rates going up while the economy is headed into the sh----r could mean that there will be inadequate resources in the near future to subsidize the production of bu-----t at current levels.

For those in IHX who were non bargained they had 23 pto days from day 1 then signed up union and it went down to 10 days their first years, 15 days after 5 years, 20 days after 10 years. So yes it is true.

I had 12 weeks parental leave an In home expert then we went union and now I only get 2? I had 3 weeks caregiver leave then we joined the union and now it is 0. I had 23 days PTO now I get 10. Why did we join the union? So d-mb! Oh and then to add insult to injury in this contract they say we stay on same performance discipline so we still get disciplined for numbers unlike retail. The union screwed over ihx with broken promises!!!!

Stanky gets 18% raise in one year and it takes 4 years to get 15% for craft. What a joke. You realize it would take most of us craft employees 250 years to make what Stanky makes in a year. Not really a good deal. Hold out for more.

Stankey is probably not too concerned with the wage increase because he figures with the amount of personnel already slated to be off payroll between this year and the end of next year, the cost factor will be insignificant in the long run or even the short run! Beware, HR is coming for your job!

They aren't happy though. It might not pass. Check out their FB Unity at at&t mobility on the contract thread if you want to see it all.

"The proposed new four-year contract ... The agreement raises base wages by nearly 15% over the course of the contract with additional adjustments made based on the Consumer Price Index to account for rising inflation."

So 3½% per year with inflation protection.
