Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Adios amigos

Submitted my resignation.

My supervisor display a poker face, there was no reaction whatsoever, no questions about reasons, no attempt to counter offering. I even believe that there was relief, or even apathy.

This company is an intellectual and integrity wasteland and those who continue waiting for things ro get better are committing professional $uicide.

Adios amigos, it was a nice ride while it lasted, now is a $hitty one.

Have a happy PIP, enjoy the upcoming layoffs, the misserable salary raises, and the pathetic brain washed leaders.

@1qiw+1htwPb8v HR won’t let you put people who quit in NSI unless everyone in the rank session agrees they were NSI. Regretted losses are eligible for rehire.

Rank is purely political. People that sold their ideas better and brown-nosed all year long will likely be remembered by their managers and rank better than the ones that simply did their work without minding anyone’s business. Also it’s relative to other managers and influence they have over yours. It’s ridiculous and pathetic. Let’s pray!

Why do people keep posting about quitting their jobs here as if someone actually cared?

You left a toxic job. Good for you. What do you want, an award?

Those who retired before their CL group ranking session was held were NOT included in the ranking. Most of the people who retired on June 1st (because of the rising interest rates) were likely in the CL28-29 ranking group. They were not included in the 2022 ranking because that CL group meeting was in June.

Someone who resigns before the assessment meeting is completed is not counted in the assessment numbers. The NSI bucket requirement is the same percentage of the remaining employees. The number is rounded up.

My supervisor literally lied to my face about no internal job opportunities that suit my expertise just to force me into a redundant office-based role. Unbeknownst to him, someone else already told me about how the supervisor rejected the role for me eventhough it was a good fit for what I am currently doing. I was literally laughing at his feeble attempt to sugarcoat the lie

Adios to everyone

@1qiw+1htwPb8v — are you a supervisor? Is this actually true that departed employees will be ranked?

A resignation just means that your supervisor has one less person to force rank as "Needs Significant Improvement". All resignations and retirements in 2020-2021 were NSI and for 2022-2023 will be automatically put into the NSI bucket to preserve the job of someone else.

That is why your manager has a "poker face". One less employee that they must force rank.

Very disappointing to see the capitulation to resignations, but as has been said below, this is how this company now works. Those who select to remain outside of the top 20% should just milk and milk and milk!

There’s no reaction because they have literally no idea what to do or say. There is no one there at the exact moment to tell them what to say or do. Robots. The amount of talent that has walked out the door not to mention the millions in on-boarding and training investments is just criminal. These leaders/managers have no idea what they are doing. Someone please teach management training and maybe some common sense along the way. Dang. Frustrating.

I saw the salaries of my peers when I was at XOM. Trust me, not they are not highest. The whole idea behind a XOM job was the stability (one job in your life). That's obviously gone. I make much more money now. And more stable too.

Same reaction from my supervisor. I wasn’t expecting a counter offer because they will put me at the bottom to save someone else. Would have been nice if there was more signs of appreciation for the years of sacrifices and exceptional service. I guess ultimately the paycheck is really the appreciation. It’s all a business transaction in the end.

NEVER stop looking for the next job.

You are in charge of your life.

Don't give that power to anyone else.

Live long a prosper.

Peace.
