Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Archaic leadership mindset

I intend to quit very soon because I do not see any signs that the leadership of this company intends to change its archaic mindset. Do they really think that with such a mindset they will still be able to compete with modern businesses?

With the exceptions of Cingular and the m0r@nic purchases by Randy, all the Bell companies have been around for over a century.
Since you can't realize you willingly applied to work here, under these policies, I think you should quickly move on so someone willing to work can have a chance at getting the job.

Self reported churn numbers are as valid as the JD Powers Customer Satisfaction awards received by T annually.

The leadership sticks to a script they know. They’ve played this for years. They thought they could lift and shift that script to new lines of business but that failed. They are going back to their roots. The problem is that they are still sticking to the script that is now 20 years out of date. They make no real investment and stick to manual work around solutions that have never been sustainable. They will continue to lose ground. Sadly a once great company will go they way of xerox.

OP said you are going to quit soon…

You clearly said why you want to leave. In fact the leadership you called out has been in place for a long time and has a history of underperforming. There is no doubt things will continue as they have for the foreseeable future.

Help us understand what keeps you here and what has to happen for you to leave?

@noy+1hyWWx37 Said - customers leaving in droves…

If I am not mistaken the customer has been reporting record low churn or close to it..

Yes. The business has shrunk down to exactly what the AT&T leadership know how to run. They are not making TV shows or convincing cord cutters to buy TV service. They are building a network and delivering quality service at above average prices. This is exactly the business they excel at.

Leaving would be the best thing for you. Why be miserable? You spend more time at work if a full-time employee. You need a change.

The leadership just wants to get theirs and protect their buddies. Performance is irrelevantly

With you leaving it's probably a good start and I'm sure you'll find happiness elsewhere! If you're not happy doing what you do for a living, then leave. Everyone has the right to be happy! Never look back!

The business is not sustainable....the street knows it. We can't lure new customers and loyal customers are leaving in droves due to our pricing model. There are no service differentiators any longer, its just a mater of time until each piece is sold to others which frankly would be the best possible scenario. Once upon a time this was the compnay to work for...now, employees look over their shoulders ever quarter or simply keep their heads on the sand like leadership. Plan your next move now......

For over 100 years they didn't have to compete, they had a monopoly. Since then it's been all downhill. I don't think T will ever be able to compete head to head with any competitor. T is living off the fat that was created in the first 100 years. There is no way you can destroy $180B in value in 10 short years and not be adversely affected. T will continue to exist until they can no longer keep the lights on, then it's game over.
