Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

The real reasons why people are ranked NSI

I give my best, I stay on top of all my work, but I am already mentally preparing to be an NSI. I'm not sure anyone can be saved here from being ranked NSI. It seems that some have been ranked NSI for the most trivial and stupidest of reasons?

55 and you have a target on your back with NSI in the bulls eye

How is it that an individual was ranked in the upper third every single year until, magically, when they turned 55, their ranking decreased to good in 2 years?
It's an amazing magic trick called age - ExxonMobil should be ashamed of themselves, but they could not care less about you. So, ALWAYS put yourself first. This company will eat its own, then sp-t them out and that’s how much they care about you

Yep. Peace out everybody.
EM is not an American company anyhow.
Heard that straight from the top.

LOL everyone is so negative about EM and yet you still get out of bed each day to go to work, in EM! While I am pretty entertained by all these negativity, there is a need for you to reflect if change is needed for you.

Peace.

The real reason people are ranked NSI is to reduce expensive western headcount and move their jobs to low cost centers like India, Argentina, and Brazil.

The PIP is completely unrelated to improvement, it is just an annual layoff.

The problem introduced by the weaponized PIP is that it is applied to groups whose jobs cannot be moved overseas such as Unit Operators and Field Techs. These people are quitting and the BTC cannot cover their duties.

EM is hiring refinery techs like never before just to cover the attrition caused by the oppressive PIP’s burden on people’s health and happiness.

If the PIP actually targeted the lowest performers then maybe it would not cause such widespread mental anguish, but the PIP seems able to affect anyone without a sponsor.

I have seen many competent productive employees PIP’d while absolute id--ts survive due to sponsorship.

It's a game mandated by the execs. The brown nosers executed the mandate.

I think you all are forgetting the main part regardless of why you think your targeted or why you think your a victim ultimately the senior executives mandate a specific % each year fall into that category. So if it wasn’t you it’d be your colleague.

If your boss has to put 1 in the group into it do you think it’ll be the ones they like or ones that are most unfavourable to them?

It was 3 years ago, but I gave a poor review of some horrible chili at a company potluck lunch. A verbal review, like 'ungh, this isn't chili!'
The maker of that chili is now my manager's manager.

I work in fear. I have few personal possessions at my desk.

Some people are NSI’d for being more competent than their insecure Supervisor.

Supervisor basically eliminating competition.

It’s clear lot of funny business goes on with performance assessments and with career progression. The most qualified people are not put into the job that would make the most sense or give the greatest impact. Most of these best people have already left the company. Performance assessments is a sham. It’s are all about protecting one’s own fiefdom and power grabs.

The company would be much better off when it get rid of all the dead weights. That would be 50% of the middle and 75% of the top. Start with bioenergy id--ts in LCS and anyone who jumped on energy transition bandwagon who spout superficial nonsense. It make no sense to have people with no competencies in these areas running business or making strategies. Huge waste of resource and time. Huge loss of talented people due to PIP and resignations.

Deciding the % of NSI prior to any evaluation makes NSI a code name for a layoff.

Deciding on who to NSI is political.

That is right. It could even be because of something you said before. (Of course they will not tell you that, but a tiny flaw can be exaggerated as though it is catastrophic. Then again, it can go the other way. Tiny no value actions can be celebrated!

NSI is just a label that someone up there doesn’t like you. There is no reason to continue working and HOPING that things will get better down the road. It doesn’t!

Move on.

All the best.

My Supervisor does not attend the session in which I am ranked. I am typically represented by someone back in Houston that I have never worked with. Last year I was represented by someone that had never met me.

The ranking system is very messed up. There are people at the very top that deserve NSI but have a sponsor and some people end up NSI that are absolute industry experts in their field, but their supervisor does not even understand what they do.

Because the top people requested and your supervisor or manager select the person or people to be NSI.Besides, that kind of cr@p that the supervisor or manager are not the one who select the people to be NSI is not true. Those are the one who select who are going to be selected. That is the way that they can say it is not their fault.
