Seeing some weird stuff at a US manufacturing site. “Interim” titles, DH’s in “interim” manager roles, DH positions being left unfilled. Is anyone else seeing this? Is it finally happening? Clearing out the DH deadwood?

Come to BTES. DHs there waiting to be put back to work or out to pasture. Do it.
DH stands for Department Head.
What is DH ? Stupid question from a non-US employee.
Most of us at the O&A chemical plant in Beaumont hopes that this trend comes our way. The mid management here is way too heavy and the GOOD OL BOY network is way overdue for a purge. We need that family and work balance that XOM speaks of back. Morale here sucks! 6 mouths tops for new hires too see the culture at this site is toxic.

The DH position is a stepping stone position which usually changes every 12-18 months. They do not provide any real value to the company. One of the big restructuring recommendations by a third party consulting company told BP was to eliminate the layer of middle management that is at manufacturing sites which is equivalent to our DH level.
DH layers added in 2016-2018 should be eliminated at most mfg sites
We had a way below LTA dh in BR shuffled to another site with another title.
DHs are worthless middlemen
