Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Good management is transparent with its employees

Too bad our management is the opposite of good. All this secrecy is doing nothing but eroding morale and ki----g productivity. The cat is already out of the bag and they are acting like it didn't happen. That is both insulting and infuriating. Whatever is going to happen, it can't be worse than most of us are already imagining. There is no point in all the secrecy.

Ford is like family but not in a good way. I had a couple of family members that I had to distance myself from because they caused so much drama and only came around when they wanted money. Maybe that’s they kind of family they’re referencing.

"Employees will be kept informed of any decisions made"

"kept" is past tense. Farley didn't inform anyone. It was leaked. And it leaked when it was way too late anyway. Farley is damaging the company by sinking its morale to the ground. In the digital age employees can document what a company did in the past. Nothing is forgotten anymore. Wondering if he ever thought about that?

@OP+1i0Qz0E6 you hit the nail on the head. Ford only has management and it doesn’t have LEADERSHIP any longer at the higher levels. There is a difference between mgmt. and leadership in the way they treat and manage the business and organization and communicate with the rest of the team. Sad to see where Ford management is at now a days. We all lost faith in them and can not believe them.

Yeah the "we're a family" comments were/are incredibly tone deaf. I like my team, and I've worked with some good people, but they aren't family.

Also, phrasing it like that made me think: "we're all family here, and like some families, we have to cast you out when it becomes financially convenient to do so"

Stop with the family, caring for each other BS! We know these are just feel good talking points. So top execs can feel good about blasting tenured employees some 2nd and 3rd generation out to the unemployment lines.

Takeaways from Global Town Hall...

What Jim said... on Ford Home Page...

This will mean workforce reductions, which are painful, but Farley promised two things:
Employees will be kept informed of any decisions made, and we will talk about these things together as a family
We will care for each other, making changes where needed but acting with empathy and compassion for everyone on the team
