Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Work force planning at its finest

Just got notified that my building will be reduced to 24 drop in work stations. I suppose we need a lottery process to determine who get the seats. I suspect the space will eventually be sublet or pay the penalty for canceling the lease.

Meanwhile, the geniuses at GRE also indicated occupancy status will not be changed. Expect a nasty gram in the near future, for not showing up to work as required. What a complete joke! I suppose we can all fly down the Dallas and flood corporate HQ, don't forget the call in the overcrowding code violation.

What happen to relationship equity? Jeff said we withdrew a lot during the pandemic and have to fill the reserves.

Just for laughs, here is an excerpt.

“The Global Real Estate team recently reviewed our workplaces to ensure we are making the best use of our space. We found several opportunities to simplify things, partly because of:

  • Lower occupancy numbers in some workplaces. (Let’s ignore the pandemic and fault people for not coming in)
  • Our goal to reduce carbon footprint. (Don’t kid ourselves, they mean reducing expenses here)
  • The success of our collaboration tools. (This is real classy, claiming credit for tools. Success was achieved by hard working employees who’ve made it work.)”

What about relationship equity and collaboration? Stank will say market conditions changed and company is too poor to maintain physical facilities for face to face work.

They’re drop in seats. No one gets one assigned. It’s first come first serve on a daily basis. I’m only required to go in once a week. I’d go in late so there are no drop in seats available, go back home and count it as my office day. Hey, I tried
