Thread regarding Ford layoffs

If the job market were better, I wouldn't care

I was proud to be part of this company. But lately I am less and less proud. I am very disappointed at what this company is turning into. If the job market were just a little better, I think I wouldn't even care if I was laid off or not. I think that is the general feeling of the majority here?

Yeah, this is a misguided post. We are still losing people every week to other opportunities. While the job market isn't what it was 6 months ago, it is still awfully good and a lot of companies are begging for people during the Great Resignation.

If you can't find another job right now it is because you aren't trying hard enough.

@1xpn Does corporate welfare create lazy companies?

@tdg+1i30jtOy There is not a short of unskilled labor. There are plenty of people here to fill jobs. There is however, a shortage of people willing to do an honest days work. And if the government just hands out benefits to immigrants, illegal or otherwise, they will just adopt the American way and sit home and be lazy.

Government handouts create lazy people.

@tdg+1i30jtOy is correct. Survey of CEO's reported on Bloomberg indicated the best thing the Biden administration could do to help the economy would be to INCREASE legal immigration.

There is a real shortage of unskilled labor

Wait until they redefine recession. When they do, we'll be considered an extremely prosperous economy year-round for the next thousand years. We will continue to be over-populated in spite of all the "pandemics" wiping away mankind - the "pandemic" as defined by our government and making greedy pharma rich with their vaccines that are as potent as water.

Artificially low is correct. The statistics published do not include those who have "dropped out of the workforce" after their unemployment benefits have ended. These people can still be actively seeking employment but they are no longer counted as seeking work by the government.

Artificially low. The official number from the BLS has long been manipulated to give a false impression that is quite optimistic. Beyond that, the sectors that are desperate for people are less skilled/lower-end such as food/entertainment/tourism which are not even close to the same as white collar work. Even worse is that automotive engineers are all going to be hit concurrently as so many gov'ts around the world force EV's on the general population. Hard to find similar work in your career field if the field is essentially gone.

Everyone would have forecasted the workforce/skills demand for designing a skateboard platform when compared to a ICE vehicle. One platform 3 top hats.
