I understand the need to get ahead of things and try to leave before there are thousands of people out of a job looking to get hired again at the same time. I do. But by quitting now, you're depriving yourself of a well-earned severance and saving Ford money. I don't see either of those as a win. I'm planning to wait this out.

That strategy could be risky for some. For those near retirement, getting an involuntary in 2023 or after may result in a 20% reduction in lump sum payment.
Unsolicited blanket advice for everyone is pretty useless. Stay or go is obviously a personal decision. If you like your job, why leave if you don't know whether you are going to get cut or not? If you are worried AND don't like your job, what difference does a month or two salary make in the long run? Find something that makes you happy regardless of what Ford does or doesn't do to you.
So start looking now if you want, but stay for the severance.
leave if you can.
Start now because it may take you a year to land that dream job….
