Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Is it worth working here?

I have an interview for a position at boa, and before doing interviews I like looking at the company pages on this site to get an idea on company morale. It seems to be pretty low at the moment due to RTO. Can someone give me the inside scoop on what’s going on?

It probably depends on what you’re applying for. What are you applying for?

But hey, if you fall under their Diversity and Inclusion campaign with no experience at all, yiu will do great, make more money than any of us experienced and tenured people.

The company took a huge dive in 2022. The blanket 3-7% raise for people making under 100k was out of sheer desperation because almost half of the Indian workforce quit in 2022. This tells you the state of things right now.

It used to be, but alas no more. Negotiate well, b/c whatever number you come in at, you will stay at it for as long as you stay. And get your lips ready to ki$$ some serious a$$.

As others have stated, no reward for tenure nor hard work.

If you're good, all they'll do is pile more on and suck the life out of your existence - with no increase if you make over $100k.

The only increase you'll see is in your medical premiums.

there are sadly no rewards for tenor and hard work. You are just a number and easily replaceable regardless of how long youve been there.
Compensation for long time employees is much lower than new employees coming in. No flexibility on WFH. I agree with the other comments on this thread.

It depends on what is important to you. BOA isn’t shutting up shop anytime soon like some of the smaller companies recently. There are many HR type benefits available and you can negotiate competitive pay coming in from the outside. However, you will probably be required to do much work in your day that serves no purpose (just a BOA rule). Most areas have no flexibility about working from an office, even if you are the only team member in your location (did I mention BOA loves their pointless rules?). There is a significant amount of non-work related activities in some area that are required (volunteering, team lunches/dinners, quotas for thank you cards, those “fun” cup cake parties!!!). All major sites are transitioning to a desk setup where you may not have your own desk, all open concept, and the desk itself is about 4’ of space. It is likely raises and bonuses will be limited over the next year or longer, due to market conditions and the unplanned decision to give raises to all associates making less than $100K. That money came from somewhere…

Opportunities for advancement are so low, they only choose who they want to move around. I have repeatedly tried to move departments, but they won’t allow it. I don’t know how else to get them to take me seriously at this point. Since they won’t let me move around, I’m just going to work somewhere else.

Worked at the bank for almost a decade. Straight talk: Opportunities for advancement are fairly limited, even for top performers. Promotions are rarely based on experience, competence, credentials, seniority. Rapid organizational change is the norm, and nearly all business decisions that impact your daily work life are made top-down. Benefits package for most workers is not competitive. Work-life balance is difficult for most. Corporate culture is high pressure, cutthroat, very political, and even toxic at times. Middle management can be very manipulative, even ruthless. The bank has a rather sordid history of blunders and operational incompetence evidenced by regulatory actions as recent as this past month. The bank's reputation suffers as a result. Upsides: Breadth of products, large geographic footprint, dominant market position.

This place is a total shlitstorm . I would look elsewhere and avoid this place if you can. This place has incompetent leadership, phony azz CEO and no real plan on how to get this place back in order. I heard they are hiring just any mfer with a heartbeat.

I've been here 22 years and have never seen it this bad either. You will basically be expected 2 jobs at any given time because they are so understaffed.

This company is extremely behind the times on many things. Like most places, you are just a number. Morale is low due to poor leadership and RTO as well as being understaffed and overworked. I’ve been here 15 years and never seen it this bad. A lot of long timers are leaving.

If you can't find any other place to work than take the JOB here at BOA. I would just use this place until something else better comes along. Furthermore, the morale is low because of poor leadership.
