Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Can't even resign without IBM drama,

I resigned for a new opportunity, basically got a don't let the door hit ya, which hey 18 years, fine. They then tell the client, Oh, we tried so hard to keep him. WTF? Client called me, told them they lied to you, now they are asking me what would it take to stay? Am I stupid? If you want to offer me something do it, I'm not going to tell you I want x so you can tell the client we offer x-1, but he wanted x. Cowboy up, tell the client you lied, not that they will believe anything you say ever again.

If you can tolerate going back, can you consider negotiating: I’ll return with these agreements, Salary=_____, stock options=______, PTO=______.

They handled it so bad with your customer. I’m sure all the years and dedication you put in this client, they’re willing to squash in 5 minutes. Shame on you, IBM.

Sometimes you have to make the right financial decisions, when it may not be the most popular. Listen to your gut.

Cut out the middleman, work directly for the client.

IBM negotiated a 90 day waiting period into the client's contract, why? I don't think it's because they care about their employees.

Exactly… work for the client and push IBM out the door!
