No RA's that I've heard of yet but 50+ CTG contractors in IBM Austin/Rochester have been given their walking papers.

The key here is the FCF which appears to be already in jeopardy for the year. IBM will do whatever it takes to ensure that the FCF is at least 10B as they announced. Cost reductions are key here, and that means more layoffs because this is the only way and the easiest way to reduce costs in the short term. So, layoffs are coming, it is only a matter of time and it looks like time is running out. Get your resume updated and start looking for a job somewhere else.

Oh wow... I can tell you for sure that the US Expert Labs team got decimated by RAs both in 2020 and 2021. Layoffs at IBM are ongoing, every year. It won't stop as it is just a tool for Finance to make their target.

I haven't heard of anyone getting an RA besides one they did in 2019. Not much since then. They're supposed to be "re-enabling" you to go kick the can in a different org. Everyone I talk to is hoping to get fired so they can focus on getting another job.

PIPs in Sales are a common thing right now. Attrition is very high anyways which is why Arvind backed off the mandatory jab.

Most teams at IBM are currently understaffed and complaining about it. Now, I am not saying that the CFO will not do whatever it wants to make the number, but these continuous layoffs certainly do not help IBM in the longer term. But again, I guess the CFO does not give a sh-t about it.

@OP Obviously some folks love and some hate you. My feeling is that you should call yourself "Grim Reaper." I don't have a problem with your robotic, repeated posts. But why not just give yourself a moniker? What you are doing is not necessarily wrong....just a little bit tedious.

Iem The 2nd half plan has IBM trying to achieve approx 2 billion in savings. That equates to 20-25k of employees. IBM’s attrition is running at approx that pace, BUT that’s over a year, and IBM needs the savings over 6 months so I think you will see some reductions. Also note, if the headwinds extend into 2023, IBM will need another 2+ billion as their hedges will have expired. How the reductions will occur depends on your division and their attrition rates. Consulting has very high attrition rates so should have lower involuntary reductions. SW has moderate over all attrition rates, (LINUX employees are high while legacy employees are low), thus they will have moderate involuntary actions. Infrastructure has almost no attrition as most of their folks are longer term employees, so involuntary actions could be higher. IBM has shopped parts of infrastructure over the years, but has never been able to come to terms with a partner. Maybe 2022 is the charm?

I would leave this mediocre company as well – but fortunately I never went there...

How are they a loser? This site is about ibm layoffs, not gossip news and headlines. This person is literally the only person here who is trying to get information about layoffs. Do better!

I would bet a large sum of money that there will be no layoff today, tomorrow, next week, and the next few months... People are leaving on their own at a very fast pace these days so IBM does not have to layoff or PIP anyone. That may change later in the year, but for now layoffs are very unlikely.
