Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What will happen to “Industrial Platform” ?

Hau TT retires by October 1st. There is no replacement yet announced. Or will it be one? What do you all think the different scenarios could play out?

  1. Industrial Platform will be gone ? Organization divided up going to report directly to Ford Blue and Model e ? With people reduction.
  1. Doug will take over ? At Tesla he had all as the chief of model 3 right? This will be a big step of more power to EV. Doug can freely rearrange / reduce people
  1. Industrial Platform will be drastically scaled down, by giving the work to the suppliers. This will facilitate the vast reduction of people. A new officer will be appointed

I think top management needs more time to think through how the remaining resources will work. So, maybe it will take all the way to December to announce and making effective on the beginning of the new year

Interesting supplier bashing going on here. Concerned about the supplier base engineering capabilities? Ford has the engineering lead now and owns recall after recall after recall. No supplier in their right mind will take over warranty responsibilities with Fords history and reputation of clawback of warranty costs without merit.

Unfortunately little clown cars that run on unicorn farts don’t make any money. The sad fact is they have to keep making the dirty, smelly pick-ups and SUV’s to keep the lights on!

In ancient Roma history, King typically would "eliminate" his strongest friends/brothers to secure his absolute control over the kingdom. There is only one king in a kingdom.

As you can see, there are some very loyal followers of DF on this site and promoting his readiness for the throne in the very near future

Number 2. Doug Field would be the right leader to direct Model e and all support activities for EV/data/software that are currently in the Industrial Platform. The company is transforming to digital world and to have legacy units dragging down the Ford+ Plan doesn't make sense. This would also shed bureaucracy.

I'm in the industrial platform also, and your post in an understatement. We are constantly picking up the slack from the suppliers while Ford is paying them to be full service suppliers!

The suppliers are also supposed to take on the warranty! I worked in warranty and saw how DISORGANIZED the claims were. There is NO WAY suppliers are going to handel warranty!

Industrial Platform here. From what I've directly experienced over the past few years suppliers are SEVERELY lacking in engineering skill. They continually look to "us/Ford" for what to do and how to proceed in their next steps. God save Ford if upper management (E-band) is looking for suppliers to pick up the engineering slack after the layoffs. Expect recall/warranty costs to skyrocket.
