Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Electric vehicles starting on fire, power infrastructure inadiquate to few charging stationg range limited to 100-200 miles???

This doesn't present a good business case for direction or profit. Ask yourself ...... why?
Its because they....they? Dont want you to travel far from your home, they dont want you to have freedom. If you have a better answer to this insanity i would like to hear it.

Its funny how conspiracy people call other people sheep. Sheep are the ones that follow their chosen leader in spite of the complete lack of data and evidence. Like election fraud and pretty much anything Alex Jones says (unless he is under oath, at which point the truth comes out under penalty of perjury).

Facts are readily available - do your research.

OP, there will always be haters like you, but the technology will keep advancing. Driving range is around 300 miles for many EV's now, which is pretty reasonable. Charge times are improving as well - some down to 15 minutes. Fires are a concern, but the technology is changing rapidly to mitigate this. And lets not forget that gas vehicles have had their own problems with fires too over the years (Pinto, CVPI). Charging locations are popping up all over the place, with more added every day. Take a look at Plugshare for maps showing locations. I was surprised that even Michigan's UP has quite a few now.

But I understand you position, it is easier to blame a government led conspiracy than to educate yourself. meanwhile, in China and Europe, customers are happily buying EV's (something like 25% of new car sales).

Let's just acknowledge that some people are too stoopid to know they are stoopid.

I recently read an article about a Tesla charging station pool. Charging station will be larger than life cesspools of activity never seen before. Picture your typical gas station restroom or rest area and instead of a quick stop now you are waiting for old Betsy to recharge. Where are y’all going to hang out. People, pets, po-p and trash. Sound like a carnival so maybe I can get an elephant ear and win a ring toss gold fish.

@1uml+1i6xowC1 A solar array would remove the purchase decision completely. Can't do that with a petrol powered car.

@OP EVs are superior powertrains for transportation. They're significantly more efficient, have less moving parts, and remove a primary contributor to NVH. The only people I know pushing back on EVs at this point are the ones that have not experienced them first hand.

Gas cars are not going anywhere anytime soon so if you want to stick it to the man you will still have options in the used market for decades to come.

“They” would prefer that capitalism not be intertwined with your energy purchases.

Have you been able to successfully shop around for electricity like you currently are for petroleum products? I thought not.

Sheep remark with something like this:

“The answer isn’t always a conspiracy theory”.

This has been mentioned on this forum plenty of times. The EV (car) companies are putting the cart before the horse. The infrastructure is not ready (obviously) for a majority of EV vehicles on the road. The range is fine if your driving is local but long range driving isn't feasible (yet). The same companies are expecting the federal, state and local governments to pay for that infrastructure, which means tax dollars, aka, us. The development of EV vehicles should come organically and not forced. I do believe Walmart created a program to set up free EV charging stations but it is not widespread yet (or even cancelled) as far as I know.

It can be similarly said about self-driving cars. Every company is developing their own, under 'proprietary' technology. Are the car companies even discussing with each other on how a Ford is going to talk to a, let's say a Honda? I doubt it. Is the infrastructure even ready for self-driving cars? No, it's a rhetorical question.

If they dont want you to travel far from home all they have to do is make travel inconvenient. End the requirements for public bathrooms.

No, I think what they see is all the money that currently flows to OPEC countries will now flow into their pockets.
