Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Resorting to layoffs if given even the slightest reason

This frustrates me terribly, that this has become a place where every slightest reason becomes an excuse for layoffs. Behind the smoke and mirrors is actually the greed of those at the top. Isn't it interesting that they always find reasons for cuts, and almost never find ways to save jobs (except, of course, their own)?

A large corporation wants to reduce costs? Their goal is not to preserve jobs? I'm shocked!

All the talk about too many employees, but yet they staff Ford of Mexico to replace the NA jobs. India handles the finance and IT stuff. New design center in Mexico is bigger than the one up here in Dearborn. Offshore the salaried jobs. Well quality / complexity / program direction comes from management not the LL6 on down.

The Ford family used to be a shield. Sure there were tough times when tough things had to be done. But Ford employees were treated well and recognized as important part of the company. The name on the buildings might as will be EV Enterprise at this point. That feeling of being part of the extended Ford family is gone. And I have to be honest, I thought even though Bill lacks business acumen, he would at least care about this part of the Ford legacy. I hope his legacy isn't putting the final nail in the coffin of Henry's great American success story.

The salaried automotive workforce is an invisible workforce. I have been in the white collar automotive for over 25 years, I can't still can't though some people that we are not
UAW line people. It is like the salaried people don't even exist.

They only care about making it look like they are “creating” jobs when it comes to the UAW…for political reasons. No one cares about the salaried workforce. I suppose it’s partially our own fault for not unionizing ourselves.
