Indonesia is very tribal. If members from the military are assigned a security detail in Northern Sumatra and they are not from there they will assert their power over the locals in many different ways. Using s-x as a means of dominance in tribal cultures is very common. Don't hold ExxonMobil accountable for these goings, especially many years after the fact.

EM had zero control over the actions of armed military personnel. EM did not instruct any military personnel to commit any crime.

Very simple concept.

What I have witnessed, the federal government of these small countries sends in military personnel to protect EM facilities. The military personnel are typically from a far off region of the country and there is natural hatred between the local tribe and the military personnel. Typically even though same nationality, they speak different languages. This hatred can result in clashes and criminal abuse on both sides. EM has no control over such situations. The government of the little country is mostly to blame.

ExxonMobil is worthy of lawsuits. It has elements of evil nature embedded in it.
