Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What's next for you?

Everyone is so up in arms about the waiting for layoffs. Saying it's stressful, unfair, unproductive, and insane. What are all of you going to do if you're not layed off? Do u really want to work for a company like this? This is a wake up call to all that are tired of feeling like a number. Ford doesn't care about you!

“The list” is already on the hands of HR.

Qué será, será
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Qué será, será
What will be, will be

I've been here over a year and really enjoy the work and the benefits and balance of the company. I've worked for large corporations, start ups, and govt, and have enjoyed my time at Ford a lot. If I get laid off I'll just find another good job somewhere else, it's no big deal and not worth stressing about whatsoever. The majority of jobs in the US are "at will" employment and you can be terminated at anytime...so relax and enjoy life!

to be honest with you, talking to people, most don't seem to be all that nervous. I was surprised by it as well. I think that people turn to this forum when they actually are nervous and that might give you the impression everyone is. But it appears many folks are quite relaxed there at Model E.

Before Ford I worked for many years at another company and left when they started laying off people who were approaching pension milestones. I went to another company and left after they starting laying off large numbers of people and giving their work to those of us who remained. I had been working between 70 to 80 hours per week (salary, no overtime). After that I joined Ford and was happy for many years until the culture changed. It’s sad but you can leave and find a “wonderful” company only to have a change in upper management that changes the corporate culture for the worse and there you are again.

I continue to have a good work ethic because maintaining an excellent professional reputation makes it easier to find that next position. Do that for yourself and your own future, not because you are loyal to a company that will not be loyal to you.

There may be some decent, moral companies out there but it appears that if you want to work for a company that cares and treats you well you may need to start your own business.

Trust leave I did in 2008 and it's been great.

I can easily forgive and forget and be grateful if it means I don’t have to uproot my life and start over. I am not motivated to do that at this point in my life. Sorry I will not be supporting your cause.

Not true. I still haven't forgotten 2019 when they purposely screwed people out of their retirements. That caused motivation to plummet.

Everyone who does not get cut is going to keep working, love Ford, and forget this ever happened!
