Thread regarding Ford layoffs

An Open Later to Jim, PART 3

Ford is trying to turn you into a god with all the articles they spew out about the "good" you do. The only god I pray to is the one on Sundays (and the wife's). We see right through that propaganda, you can't fool us. Mulally did many great things, but bringing you in was a tu-d of a mistake. Your photo shoots are cringe worthy, the stock price is down, quality is down, and Ford is no longer looked at as a premier engineering employer. These are all major problems, what are you doing to fix them? Most people I talk to say you do nothing that really makes a difference most days. In my future parts I'll delve farther into these with first hand examples of interacting with Jim if anyone is interested. I intend to send these letters to Jim upon me leaving the company, I'm hoping they help drive a realization within him, but they probably won't. At least I'll have my pension.

I will never drive an EV. And every connected ICE I buy, I will be cutting the wires to the TCU.

You can suck my data and subscription.

I enjoy some of the Autoextremist's rants as well. Here's the new one that's pretty humorous with Farley mentioned:

You are wrong, neither Ford nor Model e will ever be leaders at anything, and Model e revenue will be minuscule. The F150 pays all the bills at Ford. But you sure are drnking their koolaid..

There are plenty of people who have experienced EVs that go back to ICE. It all comes down to the range/refueling experience. As a commuter vehicle for those that have access to charging at home and / or work, EVs are fine. For more spontaneous use, many still prefer ICE. The problem is, since it is government rather than consumer demand pushing a rapid conversion, the charging infrastructure will not keep pace. It will result in more limited mobility for most. I suppose the wealthy that can afford the premium services that bypass inconveniences will be happy to not have to deal with the riffraff.

I disagree with your predictions. For one, I believe Doug Field is content leading the most important part of Ford Motor Company and the Ford+ Plan, that would obviously be Model e. In time, Model e will be a leader in electric mobility, data stores, and services and that will lead to Model e being the company's leading profit center. If you actually worked at Ford right now you would know this and I wouldn't have to point it out.

After Model e's revenue stream is secure and stable, Ford blue's winding down will be accelerated. Eventually, Doug Field's business unit will be all that is left standing and it would make sense for the Model e team to be the sole remains of what is or will be Ford Motor Company. This is the big picture.

I don't know why you or any other employee is not excited to see the end of ICE and anything else carbon-based transition to 100% electric and digital cloud based. Anyone that experiences even the current EV mobility technology will realize they will not want to return to old tech automotive. Just wait until the next generation of Model e's technology is unleashed, you won't want to go back.

If you are so unhappy working for Farley, go work somewhere else or go buy up enough Ford stock to oust him. Can't do either? Then suck it up. Sending a pathetic letter when you retire is not going to be some kind of eye opener for Jim but he might have a good laugh.

Doug Field, with his data and subscription" is the supposed savior one Jim gets broomed and the board.

Doug will be a bigger cluster than Jim. If Bill had half a brain (becoming more and more apparent he doesn't) he'd beg Joe Hinrichs to come back.

I am offended by his self-promotion. We want to hear about quality, reducing recalls and warranty costs in ICE (non-electric) vehicles. I have no faith in him transforming the Company. He is straying from what the Ford founder did -- bringing vehicles to the masses. Wondering who will be tapped to clean up the mess.

It matters. Most Fortune 500 CEOs have pretty healthy egos, but Farley is at another level. The cringe worthy photo shoots are a perfect example. Can you name another major automotive CEO who is running around at low level racing series?? Its absolutely ludicrous. The lack of attention to things that matter are a big reason why our quality is in the gutter. Farley shoots from the hip and is enabled by his minions. Anyone who pushes back or delivers any form of bad news has been pushed out of the company. Its just going to get worse the longer he's at the helm.

I care. The OP is dead on with these posts.

I like how Farley wants to get rid of dealerships. Leaving customers in the lurch when their Ford is inevitably recalled. Great strategy!!
