Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Anxious about cuts

Some of my colleagues are overly anxious while some don't care about cuts and are not worried at all. I am among those who do not worry much in advance, because whatever happens, I believe that I will manage to find something new in a relatively short time. How are your anxiety levels at the moment?

Speaking of slackers, do people who struggle with verb usage feel anxious?

Just remember...

  • You were looking for a job when you found your current one. Your 'being hired,' means you're hirable.
  • You shouldn't worry about something you can't control (layoffs); focus on what you can control.
  • Be open to relocating outside the metro-area; many find great engineering jobs outside Detroit/non-automotive. A great "takeaway" one has from the automotive industry is its complexity; other industries have far less degrees of complexity, thus you'll shine.

Good engineers can adapt. Even to modelE.

That is what I don’t want to see it happen. The high performers should not be affected.

Who are you that keeps talking about slackers? Have you ever heard of projection? That’s when you project your own thoughts and fears onto others and assume they’re thinking the same thing you’re thinking.

Most people are worrying because they saw some really good high performers walked out during SRD while slackers stayed. That was a bit of a game changer.
