Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Remember the witch-hunt after our account fraud scandal?

Can somebody explain to me why the same thing is not happening with US Bank? They opened fake accounts for customers, got called out on it for a few days in the media, and then nothing? Barely any mention of it? Is it now suddenly acceptable to do something like that?

It's pretty funny how wrong you are, you completely misinterpreted my post and are off by 180 degrees. But by all means, keep up with the friendly fire of it helps. It's an anonymous forum, no one really cares.

@jrv. The hypocrite speaks again without citing real facts.

You know who corporations and the 1% really support with their $$$ right? Yep, the same folks that give you your talking points.

Maybe someday you’ll realize you vote against your own self interest, but I doubt it.

Extortion is more profitable with WF. This is not to say that people didn't do anything wrong, but the government response has always been about extortion and nothing else. The people squealing the loudest on The Hill couldn't care less about big corporations going rogue, in fact they love when it happens. More talking points for campaign speechea and more kickbacks to their campaign fund. The idea that the pols really care about some fake accounts is laughable on its face. They never did and never will.

They only went after OJ because of his “solid reputation”. The fact that he actually committed the crime is just a huge coincidence.

So you’re saying the concept of jealousy doesn’t exist in this world?

Lmao at "their reputation is so good we should persecute them". WF shills will try to flatter themselves even in the context of their crimes being uncovered.

2016 was a big election and it was less than two months away at the time.

Also, we were more appealing of a story than US Bank because of our size, yes. We were more appealing of a story than JP Morgan because our reputation was so solid. Everyone loves a good story about a golden child messing up.

Retail sales people and car salesmen have been tacking on unneccessary charges for years. It's nothing new. "Hey, I said I didn't want your three-year protection plan!" "Uh, sorry."

I don't think Wells Fargo's actions were unique, even among banks. Aside from having political enemies, the difference is whether there was a culture that encouraged the illegal behavior and how leadership responded when they were made aware.

It’s not a witch hunt if they keep finding actual witches

WF must have screwed someone over at some time prior to the scandals becoming public. That someone either knows someone powerful or is powerful in the political arena.

Also, the length of time of the WF scandal, the way it was handled and the way it seemed to drag out with other smaller subsequent scandals (auto / mortgage).

Ultimately the press was not kind given the above, which further fueled the ongoing outrage.

We were one of the top three banks at the time. Compared to us US Bank is like a credit union.

If 18 more follow they’ll be in the news just as much.

Right there with you on that one. Same deal occurred at US Bank and was made public will zero political outcry, next to nil press coverage, 100% white washed. I also wondered the same thing about JP Morgan. What year are they not caught pulling some multi billion dollar crime, rigging the metal markets, manipulating Libor, hiring Chinese CCP children to get kick backs, or how about being the banker for Bernie Madoff, the list is a mile long. The most repulsive part is anyone connected to the event 10-6 years back here have been replaced likely 3 times over. The bad apples have been gone so very long, and most likely dodging bullets at some other bank. This is all while the remaining headcount here has did zero wrong doing in connection to those long ago events and has been abused by the politicians and their influencer crowd, media, regulators.
