Expense freeze, headcount freeze and no replacement hires. Not seen this happen in years. What are we about to do.

Layoffs already started at least in my little tiny pocket of HR. As far as I know three folks gone by 8/19 out of a 160 person org.
The quarterly review is set for 9/7, so we’ll have a pretty good idea if there will be layoffs after that.
Let the Axeman cometh!
As is Dell tradition, those all-time high record profits have been pocketed by the top instead of shared with the disposable bottom. That bottom is now being shipped away to be replaced with a fresher, cheaper bottom.
“Long term strategy? What’s that?”
In HR. We have been given no ETA on when external hiring will start again. Haven’t heard about lay offs, but logic would say we are headed that way. Definitely suggest updating resumes and starting a search.
Expect knee jerk reactions will be determined over the last few and next few weeks. What will be innovated in the product portfolio(s)?
What can de sold/trimmed possibly to HCL as they have done previously.
Whats happening, LOOK out your windows ! Inflation world wide, of course cuts are coming, wake up!
any idea when the hiring freeze for externals will end?
Update the resume.Layoffs are coming. It will be a good thing.Dell compensation is poor to say the least.
The quarterly review is set for 9/7, so we’ll have a pretty good idea if there will be layoffs after that. External hiring is still paused for the most part, with a few exceptions. Rest of the year will be interesting to say the least.
As previously noted in a prior posting:
“ In the past from executives :
“We’re also evaluating our business to make sure we have the right number of team members in the right roles and in areas where customers need us most,” Dell said in a statement. “We’re addressing our cost structure to make sure we’re as competitive as we should be now and for future opportunities."
“While we do this type of organizational review regularly, and while it always results in some job loss or restructuring.
As stated above :
We’re addressing our cost structure…
While we do this type of organizational review regularly…
, and while it always results in some job loss or restructuring.
Every decision comes down to
How much does it cost and how much/many can be cut.
Sad, very sad.
