Additional responsibilities

There are more and more daily tasks that do not fit into the original job description I was hired to do. What is your experience with that? How many responsibilities do you have that fall well outside the realm of your original role?

If they want extra work, then "SHOW ME THE MONEY"

I never got any extra $$$ for extra work, so sc--w that.

I will leave at 5pm and spend the time with my family.

Best idea is to learn from your assignments. My experience is anything you can learn to better yourself increasing your skill set turns into a win. Working outside the original job description is BAU at BofA. You may find yourself to be a valuable employee eligible for many great positions across the enterprise. Keep an open mind and a great attitude you’ll grow.

If you are comfortable, you can state nicely "Oh, that's not my role. You should reach out to...." (I wish I had a dollar for every time I hear someone say "It's not my role" each day)

If it's coming from your manager, start whining about your workload (squeaky wheel) and messing up on purpose. Knock it out of the park on things you actually enjoy doing, but mess up on all the rest (nothing big, just sloppy work)

Your manager will then see that you are overworked and start pushing the extra stuff to one of their pets who lives to do their bidding. Plenty of those dummies around.

They cannot attract anyone to work here with RTO, so your job is secure. Worst case, you end up having a mildly uncomfortable conversation with your manager, where you can explain that 1) the workload is crushing, and 2) you're being asked to do things that are outside of your role without any additional compensation for the additional responsibilities. If they press, then start your other job search either internally and/or externally. Plenty of other opp's to not put up with this. (and if you don't want to do that, then maybe your situation is not actually as bad as you thought.

This happens to me all the time, because I am (told that I am) very good at what I do. But when it gets to be too much, I just start messing up on purpose and the extra work (+ stuff I don't like to do) miraculously finds another home!
