My skype status seemed to change to inactive within 15s of non-activity (no mouse/keyboard movement) while connected to VPN (at home or cafes). However, whenever I am in the office the timeout is 3 minutes.
I cant even read documents in peace now that I have to constantly fiddle the mouse to not look like I am always inactive on the computer.
Yes you can disable or turn off the ergonomic breaks. I did that when the software got in the way of me working.
You can change the away minutes on Skype eventhough it’s greyed out. I set it to 90 min and would watch Netflix or take a nap and still be green.

Question: what is it with all of you old guys and being in the office? You were the first ones to leave before Covid (if you showed up at all), and now it’s become some kind of a sacred temple for you. Are the rest of us missing something?
Go to work in the office. Turn off Netflix.
@glw+1i9wAyDJ yes you can uninstall it. I uninstalled it the first day I started working at Exxon, if you can't figure out how ask someone younger and that is not meant to be hostile
they also may be able to show you how to change the amount of time before your skype/zoom/computer shows it's inactive, mine doesn't do it for 3 hours
Regarding the ergonomic software, is it really tracking our mouse and keyboard strokes? I notice the software gets activated (with the activity bar) whenever i am plugged in from a non office internet. Can we uninstall it?
No worries. Our ergonomic software on our laptops monitors our keystrokes per minute while we work. No need to worry about any "inactivity" status lights.
