I didn't think twice when I left in 2019. I took the lump sum and rolled it into an existing private investment. The further I could get my $$ away from T, the better for me.

As more people take the lump sum the closer the pension fund comes to being funded enough to off load it to an insurance company. That is more likely to happen than ending the option to take the lump sum.

It is not a rumor it is fake news.

Based on how pension funding works lump sum is a better deal for the company.

Rumor was started by someone clueless who doesn't even know what lump sum is.

Troll Alert!
With interest rates increasing (lump sums decrease) there's no monetary advantage to eliminate the option.

Getting pension liabilities of the books benefits the company. That's why they offer the lump sum.

Standard rumor to try to get people to leave.

Not sure the company would do that. Seems there is an advantage for the company to get the pensions off the books.

Not that I know of. We just signed a four year contract extension in April so I don’t even know if they could even try before then.
