Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

There’s a….

new top dog in the U.S. telecom industry. T-Mobile US now has a larger market capitalization than Verizon Communications, AT&T, Comcast, or any other company in the sector. It’s the exclamation point on a steady rise for the once-upstart wireless company.

T-Mobile also just laid off a bunch of folks, so don’t think it’s all roses over there. My buddy works there and was just let go. Haven’t seen any layoffs announced here yet (though we know they are coming).

I retired from AT&T as a manager from wireless construction after over 30++ years. My family had the AT&T Unlimited (but limited to 24 GB for all 4 lines) Family plan with four lines. Inside of 30 days of retirement my employee discount (-50%) was changed to retiree discount (-20%). So my costs as a retiree increased from about $120 to $160 a month. I decided to shop around and was I surprised, T-Mobile unlimited basics (50GB each line!!) plan with paperless billing a few yrs ago was $116 a month for all 4 lines. AND......they payed off about $800 for two of our i-phones. Today I pay less than the AT&T employee discounted price and get FASTER service. I wanted to write AT&T leadership but after 30+++ years you learn that they NEVER LISTENED so don't bother!! Good luck AT&T, I think you're going to need it.

T-Mobile has higher market cap because they converted their debt to equity.

T-Mobile was more affordable over that of the AT&T retiree benefits. Just like AT&T looking at the bottom line and not expanding their network. We were looking for the best value for our "retiree" dollar. My area the coverage was terrible and the phones kept dropping the hotspot capability. Calling in for AT&T service was a pain. Switching to T-Mobile was a god send, great customer service and they actually wanted to help you.

This is what happens when you financially subsidize your competitor. Thanks Mr. Accountant Randy Stephenson!

As a T employee it is your responsibility to periodically check out your competitors so you understand where T really stands in the market.

Or you can be like those GM execs who drove cars that were fixed up after leaving the production line, who were shocked to learn that GMs actual quality in the open market didn't match Toyota and Honda.

ANY employee that uses mobility service other than ATT should be given 30 days to switch their service to T or get fired! Your allegiance is to your employer to help make it successful! Shame on any T employee that doesn’t use T! I would turn my back to you in a New York minute, I would not speak to you if we worked together and you used another service! You owe it to your employer, period!

I love my service with T-Mobile! I have better pricing for my family plan than I was getting with my T employee discount!

At one point both the former CEO John Legere and the current CEO Mike Sievert worked for a legacy T company. Legere went out of his way to point out how slow and out dated T was in marketing and he was correct!!
