They had to, it is the only lever left to show confidence in the stock. VZ still makes a cr-p ton of cash, they can afford to bump the dividend without material impact o n capital investments.

Well a dividend drop would be disastrous to the stock which is already having a disastrous year. So, lets keep the death spiral going at all costs!

INVESTOPEDIA - KEY TAKEAWAYS
Dividends represent company profits that are paid to shareholders.
When a dividend increase is the result of improved cash flows, it is often a positive indicator of company performance.
Another reason for a dividend hike is a shift in company strategy away from investing in growth and expansion.
A company might also raise its dividend to attract additional equity investments by offering more attractive dividend returns to investors.
A stable dividend payout ratio is typically viewed as a positive sign.

Raising the quarterly dividend, indeed, yeah!!!! Need to ensure that it is net free cash flow positive. Where this does not increase the corporate debt??

Good commentary. Reduced annual STI, ouch!!!!! What a dichotomy?? What a journey, the last three (3) corporate quarterly reports? What a debacle in the Verizon share price? What is next?

In all seriousness, folks, is that true? Has there been a dividend increase authorized? Or, are you just having fun with some additional sarcasm? Truly want to know because I personally don't follow stocks/dividends news regularly to know and if this is in-fact true and going to happen...WHAT THE HE-L IS GOING ON HERE BASED ON QUARTERLY RESULTS REPORTED THESE PAST COUPLE OF QUARTERS??? HOW DOES THE COMPANY THEN JUSTIFY HAMMOCKS OBVIOUS WARNING ABOUT REDUCED STI PAYOUTS COMING IN 2023???

  1. 0125 or 2% increase.

4,200,000,000 shares outstanding
That's $52,500,000 per quarter
Four quarters is $210,000,000 a year increase in dividends paid.

None to you
